After Hours Technician

Department:  Technical Services
Title:  After Hours Technician
Reports To:  Noel Polhemus
Status: Part-Time – Hourly (nights and weekends)
Classification: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

The After Hours Technician is an entry-level, early technical career position. The Technician will troubleshoot technical issues according to documented instructions, working with, or escalating to more experienced technicians when necessary, and documenting their own work clearly. They will also be responsible for monitoring various systems to identify issues or work to resolve system emergencies. The After Hours Team will sometimes be required to participate in data entry, general maintenance, training programs, and other assigned projects.

The Technician will perform all responsibilities in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Demonstrate basic technology skills, with focus on expanding those skills
  • Utilize effective customer service methods to take client help-desk calls and create internal work tickets
  • Follow documented instructions to perform guided troubleshooting steps
  • Communicate effectively with both co-workers and clients  by using appropriate verbal, written and/or ticketing systems
  • Monitor systems for alerts and warnings and triage and/or escalate appropriately
  • Complete technical certifications and other training as requested
  • Seek opportunities to collaborate with, and learn from more experienced peers on additional projects
