SUMMARY

The IBM Power w AIX / Linux Systems Engineer will work with a team and independently to support our clients in the public and private sector.

This Engineer will troubleshoot and optimize Power Systems for our clients. As a Junior AIX Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting AIX-based systems. The Engineer will perform all responsibilities in accordance with all company standards, policies and procedures

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • AIX System Administration: Assist in the installation, configuration, and management of AIX operating systems.
  • System Monitoring & Maintenance: Monitor the health and performance of AIX servers, ensuring availability and optimal performance. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including system updates and patching.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide support for system issues, performing troubleshooting and resolving system-level problems. Work with senior engineers to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Backup & Recovery: Assist in implementing and managing backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery.
  • User Management: Assist in managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teams to ensure system compatibility, integration, and performance. Participate in team meetings and contribute to system improvement initiatives.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Associates degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of UNIX/Linux operating systems, with a focus on AIX systems.
  • Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and respectfully with team members and other departments.
  • Willingness to Learn: A strong desire to grow in the field of systems engineering and learn new technologies and processes.
